In his own words: "DJing is my passion and making mixtapes is an art to me.
I like original and interesting house music. That's why I consume enormous amounts of music to find the rawest and most original tracks out there. My love for house music is also my motivation to do these tracks justice by forming them into a mix that stands out from the rest.
Admittedly, I don't always stick to my principles, which is frustrating sometimes. But I think every DJ needs a little mainstream appeal to survive.

I use controllers to DJ. Namely, an Oxygen 8 Keyboard and a Midi Fighter. All the mappings were developed by myself over the period of 2 years. I am a proud controllerist and I would stand up for it any time.

At first controllers were more of a price conscious decision than anything else, but over time it became the natural way to DJ for me. Now my controllers have become my trademark and I'm known as "the guy with the keyboard and the buttons"."

Now Lektroluv Records and Sound Of Stereo are calling out to all the producers amongst their fans and followers. Do YOU want to remix Sound Of Stereo's Diamond? Than this is your chance!

Of course you'll do this for the love of music and maybe 5 minutes of fame, but still we set up this nice prize package!
The winner of the Sound Of Stereo remix contest will see his remix included on a Sound Of Stereo remix EP to appear after summer on Lektroluv Records. How cool is that?!

We have a little treat in store for all you readers today with an exclusive interview and track from the fast-rising DJ/producer Dan Pearce aka Eats Everything. Interviews have been all but extinct from DB in recent times but we will look at bringing them back as a regular occurrence. Grab the track at the bottom of the interview.

Nelly: First of all you go under the name ‘Eats Everything’, how did that come about and if it’s for the reason I’m thinking is there anything you wouldn’t eat??

Eats Everything: It was kind of a joke really, my general nicknames from my mates (bastards) are Tubs, Fats, Chubtop etc so I just went with that and it stuck. I like all kinds of music and play most genre’s as well so the “Everything” part kind of works there. Plus I eat loads!

Nelly: What got you into making beats and how long did it take for you to develop your sound to a point where you were happy?

Eats Everything: I have been DJing since 1993 (I am an old man) and have been making music since about 2002 on and off. I used to be in a duo called Schmidt a while back but the guy I was working with just decided to stop one day in about 2008 and that is when Eats Everything was born.
With regard to my sound, I have really only been properly happy with it in the last year or so but I can imagine in a years time I will be saying the same thing.

Nelly: What is the one track you love (or hate) that you wish you had produced?

Eats Everything: Recent tracks, Catz n Dogz – I’m The One Who’s Crazy is a masterpiece in my opinion, everything about it is massive. Also Justin Martin & Ardalan – Mr Spock is legendary. All time tracks, anything by the Sharp Boys, Murk Boys or The Rhythm Masters early to mid 90’s is top drawer even now.

Nelly: We hear a lot of collaborations these days and obviously you’ve been doing a bit with Idiotproof already, but do you have any plans to collaborate with anyone else in the near future or have someone in mind that you’d love to produce with?

Eats Everything: I have a few things up my sleeve with some well known guys!!! Chris James and I have done a few really special tracks which we will be unleashing soon. I would love to produce with Justin Martin or Format:B. They are both second to none in my opinion.

Nelly: Who or what is the main influence in your productions?

Eats Everything: Early to mid 90’s house in all its forms is my inspiration, and BASS!

Nelly: When you are starting off a new track/remix what usually comes first and how long do you take over each production?

Eats Everything: I make music all the time so whenever I have an idea I knock up a little loop and then save it. Then when I have a remix or a good sample come along I try out the parts with the various loops I have made.
Then again I start from scratch from time to time. It all depends on my mood and stuff really!!

Nelly: You have a long list of originals and remixes under your belt with two tracks ‘Hevvie’ and ‘Lakota’ included on Southern Fried’s ‘Fried & Tested Tracks Vol. 1’ and not forgetting your massive remix of the Mighty Dub Katz classic ‘Magic Carpet Ride’, but what’s next for Eats Everything?

Eats Everything: I have just had an EP signed to Anabatic and another to Catz n Dogz Pets imprint. I am working with Get Fresh (Stupid Fresh’s label as well) and am doing more colabs with Idiotproof and others. Putting on more weight is also top of the agenda.

They then plan to release a free online album featuring the best revisions, on MofoHifi (home to Phonat and Polymath). 2011 is going to be a new chapter for The Young Punx. They have realigned their sights and stripped things back to being all about club music. DubNoir has garnered support from the commercially known acts to the underground heads, with artists such as Slam, Dj Zinc, HiJack, Bass Kleph, Oliver $, Sinden (Kiss FM), Worthy, Rennaisance Man, Laidback Luke, Malente, Solo, Lee Mortimer, Pezzner, Riva Starr & Many More playing, charting and digging the music.

The aim of DubNoir is to fuse together deep house with a mixture of techno and lashings of jackin house producing an end product that wont sound out of place in a warm-up set or at peaktime. This is no easy feat, as only a handful of labels at present have been creating this unique combination, but the label will strive to find only the best artists to deliver EP's and remixes of good quality house.

FELIX DA HOUSECAT GIVES AWAY NEW ARTIST ALBUM ON THE COVER OF MIXMAG

Dance music legend Felix da Housecat is giving away his brand new, full artist album ‘Son Of Analogue’ for free on the cover of the April issue of Mixmag. The dance music magazine normally comes with a cover CD mixed by a world class DJ, but this is the first time the free CD has been a full artist album. The album won’t be available anywhere else, only with Mixmag.

As one of the most influential producers in dance music, Felix da Housecat helped spread acid house in the late 80s and 90s and kickstarted electroclash with his seminal 2001 album ‘Kittenz And Thee Glitz’. When asked why he decided to give away his epic new album, the Chicago born star said:

“I could have easily given the album to a record label but I’m tired of that. I wanted to make it visual. Back in the day when you’d buy a record, you’d get to open it up, be a part of it, really enjoy it, feel it. I told my manager that I don’t want this online. I didn’t want my album to be just a link.”

Mixmag has been at the forefront of music journalism for over 20 years and championed Felix’s unique sound right from the start. According to the DJ, “the cover CD is a way of saying thank you for all the support Mixmag and the UK gave me when I was fighting to be heard. It’s going back to my roots, going to touch your earhole and penetrate your third eye. It’s crazy.”

AMERICAN ROYALTY - "LATELY" + "EL ARDEMO" EP RELEASE
"Its rather difficult to describe this new young group that seemed to appear out of nowhere onto the Los Angeles music scene. With the band average age being 22 years old, the only conclusions anyone seems to be able to reach is that they are young and fearless. The bands unique ambivalence to a particular genre, raw musical talent and vast music taste leaves most people struggling to think of another band to compare them to; most end up with something along the lines of somewhere between The Black Keys and The Bloody Beetroots. Others simply give up, saying I cant describe them. you just have to see them live.
American Royaltys progressive take to the stage involves equal parts classic rock and progressive house, with frontmen Billy Scher and Marc Gilfry manning electric guitars, synthesizers, and
samplers; while behind-the-scenes production wizard Richard Morris simultaneously holds down the drumkit and the non stop sample and loop firings. On top of all that, Gilfry and Scher take a refreshing step away from overprocessed dance vocal traditions and bring raw and powerful classic rock lead vocals to the mix.

Their lead single Lately is an incredibly natural mix of psychedelic rock and raw electro house, seamlessly held together by these sonic tailors eloquent skills, leaving the listener thinking what has been suggested all along I need to see this sh*t live. With it came a stellar remix of "Lately" from Belgian wunderkind Vhyce, who somehow downshifts the madness of the original track to an eerie deep house gem.

Basically the whole "El Ardemo" EP really is a collection of five fantastic tracks, each executed with enough charisma and vision to stand alone. And would you believe me if I said that even with all the genre crisscrossing, after listening to this EP, one still seems to somehow leave with a very firm

Roisin Murphy is famed for her recognizably warm and dulcet tones, backed up by vocal power, striking image and the kudos of being front-woman to one of the most successful dance-pop crossover outfits in contemporary music, Moloko. Its clearly no wonder that Iason Chronis and Coen Berrier AKA Mason chose the bold character of Roisin Murphy for their forthcoming production Boadicea.

On top of creating high quality, musically bountifully productions, Mason's skills have been firmly developed into an eclectic and unique sound thats daring and adaptable. This ground breaking production duo have stuck to their successful tradition of a refurb version on each of their labels releases. These are not remixes in the usual sense but completely new interpretations of the original track done in any style that takes their fancy. You can check examples of Masons previous highly random refurbs here YouTube. The idea is simple - no stems, no parts and no sample beats, just refurbishments of the original.

Now the Dutchmen are offering the chance for one lucky soul, be it a producer or band to Refurb' the next single, Boadicea feat. Roisin Murphy and have it released through their eccentric and prolific Animal Language label . The winning version could be mariachi, flamenco or Norwegian black metal. As long as it's not a dance track, it'll be considered a refurb.

This meaty release will also sport bold and brassy remixes from some equally envelope-pushing electronic producers, including beat master Danny Howells, thumping lords of the dance Evil Nine, Tony Senghore and transatlantic electro-pop sensations Human Life.

Aside from establishing themselves as two of the most creatively open musicians in modern EDM, why have Mason decided to kindly offer this exciting treat for all to use?
